Singapore Part 1: Universal Studios and the Luge

boy and girl with charlie chaplin

Here is a glimpse of the very awesome Singapore! Check out some of the sights in Universal Studios Singapore (USS), handy tips we learned along the way, and other things, lah!

Day 1 - Universal Studios
If you only had one day to explore Singapore, I suggest you visit Universal Studios. My brother Mozart and I transformed to kids again, in awe of everything. "Wow, we're in Universal Studios!" I could barely recall a past memory where I was extremely happy for too long in a day. Except if I'd win the lottery, yeah I'd probably be happy for a few weeks.

The Rides
I like how even the queue to the rides are interesting. Take this Allspark display from the Transformers: The Ride-3D ride. In the Revenge of the Mummy, you can feel like you're Lara Croft exploring a tomb.

For some of the attractions (like in the Jurassic Park area), prepare to get soaked! By soaked I mean from head to toe. Bring extra clothes or a raincoat!

Darn it!
Street Performances
Aside from rides, there are fun street performances for those who just want to chill. Prepare to be entertained!

These guys are Filipinos! Kuya said "galing!" they replied "salamat"

I thought they were playing a recorded song, turns out there were beautiful live singers
outside where we ate!
The Characters
Universal Studios has a staff on standby if you want your photo taken. They limit it to a few people though so be sure to line up ASAP.  We originally wanted to have a photo with all of the famous characters like Manilyn Monroe and the Transformers, but later wanted to focus our time on trying out all of the cool rides.

Souvenirs
Souvenir shops have adorable things for sale. We mostly got keychains for the rest of the Peñas.

The tiny Oscars are so adorbz!
Outside Universal Studios, kuya and I took a break to have photos with gigantic chocolate and the candy tree. We also had lots of water breaks since it was hot. Luckily there are water fountains for our bottle.

Candy trees! Just try to pass by this place without smiling, I dare ya!
The Stage Show
Waterworld is the BEST stage show. Upon entering there are bleachers, the blue one being the "splash zone" since it's near the stage. We already saw all the water on the floor. "Yep, let's sit here kuya!"

Even before the show, the goons would soak the audience in front with their guns or their buckets. Waiting was so much fun!

The show itself has pyrotechnics, really good looking actors, stunts, surprisingly funny moments, and getting drenched some more from the jet ski. For safety, I wore my backpack with my gadgets inside since my back was still pretty dry. Don't miss it! It's worth getting sick the next day for!

Before awesomeness.
Being a kid again for a day, full of wonder and dashing from point A to point Z was one of the best days ever!

Sentosa Luge
Before heading back to the hotel, we went to the Sentosa Luge, the first of its kind in South East Asia! We weren't allowed to take photos during the ride. It was okay, probably would've been more awesome if we rode these before the overwhelming adrenaline rush from some of the attractions in USS.

Our feet could barely walk by the end of the night, but we were just getting warmed up!

Next blog entry: the Botanical Garden, Gardens by the Bay and the Marina Bay!
