Want to join rice farmers in Tarlac this July? Read this!

If "trying something new" is in your bucket list, then you can cross that out when you go to "Plant to Plate" this July 13!

Organized by Good Food Community, you can join the farmers in Tarlac while they plant in rice paddies.
It's definitely a worthwhile way to spend Saturday than trying to collect those minions. You get to appreciate what's in your plate once you really get to experience the process of planting.

Good Food delivers fresh produce from Capas, Tarlac with their "community shared agriculture". It's a pledge of support for the whole farming season. My sister occasionally buys from Good Food, so we enjoy green veggies like lettuce and arugula every harvest season. It's good for the body and good for the farmers too!

From their Facebook page:

The rainy season brings a feeling of dread to us in the city, but for Good Food Community in Tarlac, this only means its rice planting time!

Join us as our Good Food farmers walk us through rice paddies and teach us a little something about what happens before rice gets to our tables.

When: July 13, Saturday
Schedule:
6 AM - Departure from the 711 at Centris (near QAve MRT station)
2 PM - Leave for Manila, arrive about 4 PM
Tour fees: PhP 550 with own transportation/PhP 800 if you ride with us

Bring sandals you don't mind donating to the rice paddy spirits. We'll be planting in mud; ankle deep in water. Farmers traditionally plant without shoes... and you can do that too!

So pack a small backpack for a fun Saturday, email us at hello@goodfoodcommunity.com and we'll save you a seat!

PS. Do have/bring your breakfast. Good Food will provide refreshments and cook lunch with the farmers while running an organic fertilizer workshop simultaneously before we all have our lunch.
